A talk with director Rabih Mroué as part of the Portait dedicated by the Festival d'Automne 2024.

Rabih Mroué is a theatre director, actor, visual artist and playwright.

Rabih Mroué is a contributing editor for The Drama Review /TDR (New York) and a co-founder of the Beirut Art Center (BAC). He was a fellow at The International Research Center: Interweaving Performance Cultures/ FU/Berlin from 2013 -2014. 

He has been working as a theatre-director (metteur en scène) at Münchner Kammerspiele from 2015 -2019.

His works include: Hartakāt (2023), Sunny Sunday (2020), Borborygmus (2019), So Little time (2016), Ode à la joie (2015), Riding on a cloud (2013), 33 RPM and a Few Seconds (2012), The Inhabitants of images (2008), Who's Afraid of Representation (2005), looking for a missing employee (2003) and others... 

He has performed and exhibited internationally including dOCUMENTA (13) - Kassel, CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo - Madrid, Reina Sofia Museum /Madrid, The ICP Triennial and MoMa - New York, Centre Pompidou – Paris, SALT – Istanbul, among others…

Lina Majdalanie is a Lebanese actress, writer and director.

Lina Majdalanie has written, acted in and directed more than one play, including: Hartaqāt (2023), Sunny Sunday (2020), Borborygmus (2019), Do I Know you? (2017), A Drop of Sweat (2015), 33 tours et quelques secondes (2012), Photo-Romance (2009), Appendice (2007), Biokhraphia (2002), Extrait d’Etat Civil (2000), Ovrira (1997) et Les Chaises (1996). She has also produced: Second Look (video series, 2020), Someone Must Have Been Telling Lies About Me (video-installation, 2008), I Had A Dream, Mom (video, 2006) et Lina Saneh Body-P-Arts Project (a website project, 2007 and installation, 2009). She curated: No One’s Land (Claiming Common Spaces V, Mousonturm-Frankfurt, 2023), Relatively Universal (HAU-Berlin 2017), Beyond Beirut (Mousonturm-Frankfurt, 2016), Vues (Kunsthalle-Mulhouse, 2015) et Motion-Less (Tanzquartier-Vienna, 2009). 

She has taught at various universities in Beirut and at the Haute Ecole d'Art et de Design in Geneva (2008-2013), DasArts (Amsterdam, 2012) and Goethe University (Frankfurt, 2016 and 2021). 

In 2009/2010, she was invited to take up a residency at the International Research Center "Interweaving Performance Cultures"/ Freie Universität in Berlin. 

Lina Majdalanie is a member of the Home Workspace Curricular Committee - Ashkal Alwan (Beirut 2010-2014). 

She changed her pseudonym to Lina Majdalanie in April 2015.
