Ego, he goes (Fridge selfspeech and shine love consciousness - Period!)
In this audio installation featuring an open refrigerator, Gaëlle Choisne engages the viewer by inviting them to study the products it contains, and by desacralising the work of art through the sculpture’s functional aspect. This “material storytelling”, to use the artist’s own words, in which different materials coexist, serves both to denounce capitalism and consumer society through waste, and to recall Gaëlle Choisne's roots and her local involvement, particularly with photographs of Haiti. As for the work’s humorous title, it is in keeping with the artist's interest in the theme of love, such as in Temple of Love, a project inspired by the writings of Roland Barthes.
