Influenced by Creole esoteric traditions, myths, and popular culture, Gaëlle Choisne's work is rooted in issues of contemporary ecology and colonial history. She is particularly interested in the question of domination and the need to pay tribute to the victims of slavery and colonisation, and more broadly to minority and “invisible” communities.
Born in Cherbourg (France) in 1985, Gaëlle Choisne is a Franco-Haitian artist who studied at the École des Beaux-arts in Lyon and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. She has been exhibited in several institutions and was awarded the AWARE prize in the Emerging Artist category in 2021. She now lives between Paris and Berlin.
