Paul Kneale
Né·e en 1986 à Toronto (Canada).
Vit et travaille à Londres (Royaume-Uni).
Paul Kneale explores the impact of digital technology on our perception of reality and art. He uses devices that enable the technical reproduction of the image, such as the scanner, printer and copier, each with their own distinctive capabilities. He uses the scanner to capture the flickering light of a room for example; and the image produced is then printed onto the canvas.
The digital therefore produces its own images and reveals its creative independence. Paul Kneale also works with sculpture and installation: in Event Horizon, rubbish bins, satellite dishes and surveillance mirrors are transformed into contemporary deities, thanks to the incandescent halo that surrounds them.
Paul Kneale is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the Slade School of Fine Art in London.
His work has been shown at the Andor Gallery, London (2014); the Art Gallery of Ontario (2014); Import Projects in Berlin (2015); the Moscow International Biennale for Young Art (2016); the 57th Venice Biennale (2017), and at Cassina Projects, New York (2017).
