What makes an archive queer? What is included and excluded - remembered or forgotten - and how? Focusing on Jarman's paintings and the recent retrospective at Crédac, this presentation examines the complications that our current Jarman fever entails.
In April 2020, a high-profile international appeal to prevent the private sale of Prospect Cottage, Derek Jarman's final home, achieved its goal of raising £3.5 million in just ten weeks. The viral success of this campaign raises many questions about not only the active legacy of the artist and his archive, but also about the HIV-AIDS epidemic itself.
