Tashi Wada Group with Julia Holter and Corey Fogel
Sunday 07 Apr 2019 from 4pm to 6pm
The L.A.-based composer and performer Tashi Wada reimagines forms of musical traditions, psychoacoustics and non-equal tempered tunings.
Tashi Wada’s works are grounded in a belief that music should be as direct as possible. Experimenting with harmonic overtones, resonance, and dissonance, he uses simple structures, tuning and pitch to generate rich sonic worlds full of unexpected effects. For his latest project, Tashi Wada Group, he’s enlisted the talents of fellow L.A. artists Julia Holter and Corey Fogel to perform their new collaborative album, Nue. Released as part of RVNG Intl.’s FRKWYS Series, the album draws on forms of ancient and devotional music, psychoacoustics, and the minimalist bagpipe music of Tashi’s father – renowned Fluxus artist Yoshi Wada – to create an endless night of dreams, full of joys and demons.
