On the occasion of the release of her book "Sensibles : une histoire du R&B français" (Audimat), Rhoda Tchokokam invites the artist Marie-Julie Chalu for a conversation punctuated by sound and visual extracts.

Together, they discuss this essay which recounts the emergence, media reception and aesthetic evolution of R&B in France.
Rhoda Tchokokam is a critic, art director and photographer.

She founded Atoubaa, a visual research blog and a media dedicated to Afro-diasporic cultures seen through a female lens. A member of the Piment collective, she co-hosted the cultural and musical programme Piment broadcast on Rinse FM and Radio Nova, and co-authored Le dérangeur: petit lexique en voie de décolonisation (Hors d'atteinte, 2020). Sensibles: une histoire du R&B français (Audimat, 2023) is her first essay.

Marie-Julie Chalu is an artist and creator of cultural projects.

She is the founder of the Afropea platform on Afropean identities and creativities, the Zouk Vintage podcast which explores Zouk culture, and the instagram page Archives du R&B français.
