The HUMPTY \ DUMPTY catalogue documents the two-part exhibition by the artist Cyprien Gaillard, presented at the same time at the Palais de Tokyo and at Lafayette Anticipations.
The publication includes a volume of photographs presenting the works in situ in the two exhibition venues as well as a volume of text exploring Cyprien Gaillard's approach. It opens with a conversation between the artist and Rebecca Lamarche-Vadel, curator of the exhibition, and provides keys to the artist's approach. The book then presents several essays on the notion of entropy, time, its traces, its effects, and the relationships that humans form with it. Gaillard reveals how the city constitutes a privileged terrain for the expression of disorder, and how, in return, humans struggle against its traces and effects. The catalogue also includes notices of the works.
