Samuel Richardot’s paintings are based both on randomness and method. The artist produces pictorial works over a long period of time by observing the movements of the fluid material of paint, diluted, dried flat, or sprayed. The blue wash of 23/10-11/01 13 (2013), where the vagaries of the drying process give rise to abstract forms, met with clean lines and full forms. Samuel Richardot draws the frames in which the pictorial material will evolve for as long as it takes. Each layer—blue, white, pink—dries in due course, thereby determining the moment in which the next appears.
