Michael Riedel

Michael Riedel creates paintings, artists’ books, magazines, websites, videos, and installations. He appropriates texts online and converts them into shapes and colours according to a recognizable typographic aesthetic. Each of his works is therefore a reproduction of existing content. He draws his material from different sources: transcriptions of sound recordings of conversations, HTML code, Lorem Ipsum text, user manuals, etc. Since 2010, his main productions are the series Poster Paintings and PowerPoint Paintings.
Born in 1972 in Rüsselsheim (Germany), Michael Riedel lives and works in Frankfurt.
