Carol Bove

Since the end of the 1990s, Carol Bove has been developing a primarily abstract sculptural practice that is often deployed in public space. She works, distorts, and twists metal to create colourful works whose apparent lightness contrasts with the rigidity of the materials she uses.
Born in 1971 in Geneva, Carol Bove grew up in Berkeley, California, and graduated from New York University. She was the winner of the first Lafayette Prize in 2009, participated in documenta 13 in Kassel in 2012, and represented Switzerland at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017. Carol Bove lives and works in New York.
