Aysha E Arar

Born in 1993 in Jaljulia
The narrative nature of Aysha E Arar’s work merges imagination with reality. This Palestinian “multimedia” artist uses painting, video, drawing, and poetry to explore her history through a body of work that is full of contradictions and embodies her quest for freedom. From small formats to large-scale frescoes, the media she uses invoke Palestinian mythology and symbolic folklore to depict her place as a woman in a conservative society where tradition and freedom clash. The papers, canvases, clothes, and other media she uses are the setting for a simple, allusive line, reminiscent of children’s drawings and graphic forms.
Born in 1993 in Jaljulia, Aysha E Arar graduated from the Faculty of Art at the University of Beit Berl. She lives and works in her hometown.
