The locust is a recurring motif in the work of Jean-Marie Appriou, who is fascinated by its joyful appearance as well as its frightening character in ancient and biblical stories.
Like the corn-cockle, it represents both a potential danger, harmful to crops, while participating in the balance of biodiversity.
