In 2018 Tanz Magazine selected Trajal Harrell as "Dancer of the Year". This honorary distinction and the thoughts on the (self)-esteem that it arouses are the starting point of a solo.
Trajal Harrell rubs against the perilous exercise of (self)-representation. He compares his singularity, his aesthetic and this honorary distinction which triggers in him a double questioning : what does such a designation mean for dance? What does dance mean to him?

Le chorégraphe et danseur nord-américain Trajal Harrell a fait ses études à la Trisha Brown School, au Centre National de la Danse (Yvonne Rainer), au City College de San Francisco et à la Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance.
Ses spectacles ont été joués à New York et ailleurs aux États-Unis, dans des théâtres comme The Kitchen et dans des festivals internationaux tels que le Festival d'Automne à Paris, Holland Festival à Amsterdam et Impulstanz à Vienne. Ses performances ont par ailleurs été présentées dans des lieux dédiés aux arts visuels, dont le Museum of Modern Art de New York.
Avec une approche très imaginative de l’histoire, il réinterprète nos passés ou plutôt l'histoire de la danse. Sa recherche est fondée sur le dialogue entre la danse post-moderne et la scène new-yorkaise du voguing. Ainsi son imaginaire nargue les distances chronologiques, géographiques et culturelles.
