Richard Fauguet’s work is often associated with the art of collage, but assemblage might be the better term. While the former designates the arbitrary juxtaposition of unrelated elements, the second leaves open the possibility that their combination may have secret predestinations, and that all that was needed was the artist’s enlightened, precise, and playful intuition to reveal the obvious. It is a work of precision, and yet no virtuosity or particular know-how is required.
