Closer Music - Day 1
Friday 25 Jan 2019 from 6pm to 9:30pm
Easter + Robert Görl (D.A.F) + Céline Gillain
7pm: Céline Gillain
Mutant pop for a parallel dimension is how Paris label Antinote describes the debut album from Belgian musician, video and performance artist, Céline Gillain. Excess and absurdity run throughout her synthesised story-telling, which has the same destructured glamour as Laurie Anderson or Leslie Winer.
8.25pm: Robert Görl
Robert Görl is an icon of synth-pop whose influence is still felt today. As one half of DAF (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft), he marked out a style of subversive pop, backed by a slick and provocative aesthetic. The duo earned a cult following. After DAF split, Görl went on to produce supremely elegant electro pop. His solo album, "The Paris Tapes", which he recorded in 1984 in Paris while lying low to avoid German military service, was released early 2018 to global acclaim. Görl's very few live appearances are not to be missed.
9.30pm: Easter
A star of Berlin's underground scene, Easter is an artist/musician duo whose work is a mix of hypnotic electro-pop, queer melancholy and political activism. Their appearances — more ultra-minimalist performance than concert — are purposefully rare, fuelling the frustrations of their international fans.

En 2017, Céline Gillain sort son premier EP « What Happens If I Open My Mouth?
