Mark Leckey

Born in 1964 at Birkenhead (UK). Lives and works in London.
Mark Leckey is a major British artist on the contemporary scene, known for his innovative work at the intersection of video, sound and popular culture or even punk subculture.

Winner of the prestigious Turner Prize in 2008, he explores themes linked to memory, technology and the impact of cultural objects on our identities. Among his landmark works, Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore (1999) stands out as a cult piece, documenting British subcultures through a hypnotic collage of archive images. Dream English Kid 1964-1999 AD (2015) revisits his personal history through fragments of media, and Exorcism of the Bridge@Eastham Rake (2015) questions the mystical power of modern infrastructures.
